Dear reader -

In August we take a moment to celebrate the publishing of the fourth book in the Spiritist Codification, Heaven and Hell. Released in 1865, the book is organized into two parts: the first focuses on a brief explanation of the Spiritist body of knowledge for those who may not have read the three previous books, and the second shares spirit communications with first-hand accounts of how spirits find themselves in the afterlife according to their actions while on Earth. It is a great read that demystifies the traditional ideas of Heaven and Hell and brings reincarnation as a powerful concept to explain divine justice and spiritual progress. Why not give it a read this month?

FEATURED: MOVIES!

Kardec, The Movie

"Kardec" is a biographical drama film released in 2019. Directed by Wagner de Assis, the movie portrays the life of Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail, the 19th-century French educator and author who is known for codifying Spiritism. The film takes viewers through Rivail's journey from being a skeptic, studying phenomena such as mediums and spirit communications, to becoming "Allan Kardec."
This feature film also explores how Kardec developed the foundations of Spiritism. Set in mid-19th century Paris, a time of significant societal upheaval and scientific discovery, it is not only about his own transformation but also about the larger societal and scientific context in which Spiritism arose. "Kardec" has received great reviews, with many viewers wishing the film were longer!

Astral City: A Spiritual Journey

While at it, why not watch Astral City: A Spiritual Journey? This 2010 adaptation of the Spiritist best-seller "Nosso Lar" is the first-person narrative of the spirit André Luiz's journey into the afterlife. Originally published in 1944 through the mediumship of FC Xavier, the book Nosso Lar revolutionized spiritual awareness as it shed light on what life after life can be like to a level not seen before.

Astral City was also directed by Wagner de Assis, who is wrapping up the shooting of "Nosso Lar 2: Os Mensageiros" -- the second installment of André Luiz's Life in the Spiritual World book series -- which is expected to be released in 2023.
