Recent archaeological discoveries have offered strong evidence that backs the accounts in the book Two Thousand Years Ago, written by the spirit Emmanuel and psychographed by Francisco Cândido Xavier. Under the leadership of Dr. Domenico Sparice, researchers from the Vesuvius Observatory unveiled that a major earthquake coincided with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which caused devastation in Pompeii. This combination of natural disasters significantly contributed to the destruction witnessed in the ancient Roman city.

The book Two Thousand Years Ago vividly describes the seismic events accompanying the eruption. In one passage, it states: “But, in brief moments, the ground trembled beneath their feet, in unknown and sinister vibrations. Some columns fell heavily to the ground, while numerous statues rolled from their improvised niches, adorned with gold and gemstones.” These descriptions align remarkably with the recent archaeological findings, where skeletons exhibiting multiple bone fractures have been uncovered, indicating deaths caused by structural collapses during the earthquake.

Moreover, historical records, including Pliny the Younger's letters, support these occurrences. He noted that persistent and severe tremors instilled fear in residents, who were torn between staying inside and the danger of venturing outside. The earthquakes were powerful enough to make buildings appear to shift and even turn over.

This convergence of spiritual literature, historical documentation, and modern archaeological evidence offers a unique perspective on the events that transpired in Pompeii. It may confirm that the mediumistic descriptions provided by Chico Xavier in Two Thousand Years Ago have accurately captured historical realities, bridging the gap between spiritual narratives and empirical findings. While this may not come as a surprise to those familiar with the work of the medium and the spirit Emmanuel, the additional evidence corroborates the quality of the information received by the Spiritist medium and the tenor of the narrative dictated by Emmanuel.

- February 6, 1832: Amélie Gabrielle Boudet marries Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail In Paris, France. Rivail would later become the Codifier of Spiritism under the pseudonym Allan Kardec.
- February 6 1843: Frederic William Henry Myers, English poet, classical scholar, and one of the founders of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR), is born in Keswick, England. Myers made significant contributions to the scientific study of paranormal and psychic phenomena.
- February 9, 1939: The spirit Emmanuel, who experienced a former incarnation as an ancient Roman senator and philosopher, finishes writing the Spiritist bestseller "Two Thousand Years Ago" through the medium Francisco Xavier. The book provides a unique spiritual perspective on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
- February 10, 1844: William Fletcher Barrett, British/Jamaican physicist and psychical researcher, is born in Kingston, Jamaica. He is known for his work in the field of psychical and paranormal phenomena and as professor of experimental physics at the Royal College of Science in Dublin.
