News briefs from around the world
- Get ready for the next chapter in the beloved "Nosso Lar" film series! Cinética Filmes has announced "Nosso Lar 3 – Vida Eterna," (Eternal Life) inspired by Chico Xavier's book "Workers of the Life Eternal." This highly anticipated installment, set to film in 2025, will feature a female-led storyline and explore themes of unconditional love and spiritual rescue. The franchise, which has captivated six million viewers, continues to celebrate the power of spirituality and the continuity of life. The announcement was made at Disney's prestigious D23 event.
- Prepare for a cinematic journey through time with "Emmanuel"! Following the success of the Nosso Lar film series, Cinética Filmes will produce "Emmanuel," the first film to depict the journey of a spirit across multiple lives. Directed by Wagner de Assis, this new project draws on research, testimonies, and Chico Xavier’s historical novels Two Thousand Years Ago, Fifty Years Later, and Hail, Christ! The film will explore seven different eras, showcasing Emmanuel’s reincarnations, and will utilize LED panels and AI technology, making it a pioneering production in this format. Filming is set to begin in early 2025.
- Academia on Kardec: The Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) in Brazil will host the "I Jornada de História do Espiritismo," the first university event focused on academic research into the life, work, and thought of Allan Kardec of which we know. Open to both researchers and the general public, the event is scheduled for November 29–30, 2024, with options for in-person or online participation. The event will be held in Portuguese. - Plan ahead: The 11th Spiritist Youth Retreat is coming to the NY/CT area on Memorial Day weekend, 2025. This event is a unique opportunity for teens 13+ and young adults to connect with others, have fun, and deepen their understanding of Spiritism in a safe and supportive environment.
- Meet the next generation of Spiritists at the 11th World Spiritist Congress on October 4-5, 2025, in Punta del Este, Uruguay. For the first time ever, the congress will feature the 1st World Spiritist Youth Congress (WSYC), providing a dedicated space for young people to connect and grow. This historic event will unite thousands of Spiritists worldwide.
- Be part of the global conversation on Spiritist psychology at the 3rd Joanna de Angelis International Congress from September 12-14, 2025. The Spiritist Society of Bournemouth, the Brazilian Medical Association (AME Brasil), and Mansao do Caminho invite you to this international gathering of minds in England, 2025. Save the date and prepare for an enriching experience.
- Experience an outsider's take on Spiritism in this YouTube video. The creator, a non-Spiritist, offers a balanced and insightful exploration of the history, principles, and practices of Spiritism, drawing comparisons with Spiritualism. 25th Spiritist Week of the Tri-State Area: Spiritism in the Arts

Every year, Spiritists in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut in the USA host a week-long series of events now called the "Spiritist Week of the Tri-State." This event, which started 25 years ago in New York, has "Spiritism in the Arts" as its theme this year.
|
|
The opening event took place on November 10th in Connecticut and included musical presentations, dance performances, and poetry readings; art exhibitions; book sales; and more. Throughout the week (Nov 10-17), daily talks on the theme will be held at various centers throughout the Tri-State area. The Spiritist Week will culminate on November 17 with a closing event in New Jersey, featuring a luncheon, music, poetry, a talk by Andre Marquesini, and a play about the mediums of the Codification.

Tidbits of #SpiritualHistory for November
- November 1, 1890: Leah Fox, American medium,one of the mediums involved in the Hydesville phenomena that occurred in 1848 in North America, discarnates in Brooklyn, New York, United States.
- November 1, 1918: Eurípedes Barsanulfo, Brazilian educator, pharmacist and spiritist medium, discarnates in Sacramento, Brazil. He founded Colégio Allan Kardec, one of the first Spiritist schools in the world, and played an important role in the development of Spiritism in Brazil.
- November 5, 1839: William Stainton Moses, English cleric, spiritualist writer and a prominent figure in the early spiritualist movement, is born in Donington, England. He was known for his involvement in mediumship and his writings on spiritual and paranormal phenomena.
- November 6, 1835: Cesare Lombroso, Italian eugenicist, criminologist, phrenologist and physician, was born in Verona, Italy. He was also interested in spiritualism and mediumship, and he investigated and theorized about these phenomena.
- November 10, 1835: Amália Domingo Soler, Spanish Spiritist medium and writer, was born in Seville, Spain. She is an important figure in the history of Spiritism, particularly in the Spanish-speaking world. Her writings continue to be studied to this day by those interested in Spiritism.
- November 12, 1648: Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, Mexican writer, poet, scholar, and nun, was born in San Miguel Nepantla, Mexico. One of the known incarnations of Joanna de Angelis, the spiritual guide of the medium Divaldo Pereira Franco.
- November 21, 2013: Nilson de Souza Pereira, Brazilian Spiritist leader and philanthropist, discarnates in Salvador, Brazil. Alongside his friend Divaldo Franco, he founded the Spiritist Center "Caminho da Redenção" and the social charity organization "Mansão do Caminho."
- November 23, 1795: Amélie Gabrielle Boudet, French teacher, artist, and the wife of Allan Kardec, was born in Thiais, France. She played a crucial role in the early days of the Spiritist movement by partnering with her husband in the research, documentation, and dissemination of Spiritist teachings.
- November 25, 1930: Dr. Rocco Santoliquido, Italian spiritist researcher, discarnates in Milan, Italy. He was the first president of the Institut Métapsychique International, which was founded in Paris in 1919 to study paranormal phenomena.
