• 20th US Spiritist Symposium — A Landmark Edition: November's US Spiritist Symposium will be the 20th in the series — a genuine milestone. The theme "The Compass for Spiritual Progress" and the speaker list are taking shape at spiritistsymposium.org. Save the date: Saturday, November 7, in Dania Beach, Florida.
• Spiritual Film Days — A Spiritist Cinema Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 27–28, presents five spiritual films alongside filmmaker discussions. A rare English-accessible European gathering dedicated to Spiritist cinema!
• Integrating Well-being: Spirituality, Spiritism & Science — A One-Day Gathering in Florida: On September 12 in Davenport (Orlando area), Florida, an exceptional lineup will come together for a single-day dialogue bridging consciousness research and Spiritism: Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD (parapsychology researcher and host of New Thinking Allowed), Helané Wahbeh, ND, MCR (Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences), Haroldo Dutra Dias, PhD, and Alexander Moreira-Almeida, MD, PhD.
• 4th International Spiritist Congress Joanna de Ângelis — Registration is officially open for "Overcoming the Pains of the Soul: The Path to Mental Health," to be held August 28–30 in Fátima, Portugal.
• One Year Since Divaldo's Return: May 13 will mark one year since Divaldo Pereira Franco returned to the spiritual world at age 98. Across the Spiritist world, centers are preparing special programs to honor his 70+ years of service, 250+ psychographed works, and the generations of children raised at Mansão do Caminho. If your group is hosting a tribute, let us know.
• 15th SFF Conference — A Joyful Gathering in Orlando: The Spiritist Federation of Florida's 15th annual conference, "The Age of Christ — Spiritual Awakening in the 21st Century," drew Spiritist families from across the Americas to Downtown Orlando on April 11–12. The concurrent 6th Spiritist Youth Meetup on April 12 brought together a new generation of young Spiritists. Congratulations to the SFF team — and thank you to everyone who traveled to be part of it.
• Celebrations: April is a month of foundations not only for Spiritism, but for many of the groups that carry it forward in English. We send warm congratulations to:
  • The Allan Kardec Study Group of Walthamstow, marking its 43rd anniversary — the first Spiritist group in the United Kingdom, founded in 1983 by the pioneering translator Janet Duncan.
  • The Spiritist Federation of Florida, celebrating 39 years of unifying Spiritist centers across the state since 1987.
  • The Spiritist Group of New York, celebrating 25 years of bilingual study and service in the heart of Manhattan.
  • The Kardec Spiritist Group of Austin, celebrating its 19th anniversary — a steady beacon of study and practice in Texas.
• Spiritist Cinema Update:
  • Emmanuel wraps filming. The film now moves into post-production for a 2027 theatrical release with Cinética Filmes, FEB Cinema, and Universal Pictures.
  • Fox Sisters — Wagner de Assis's newest film will have a special screening at Spiritual Film Days in Copenhagen on June 27–28.
  • Sexo e Destino reaches Brazilian cinemas. Based on the book psychographed by Chico Xavier and Waldo Vieira, the film explores how choices echo across lifetimes.

Tidbits of #SpiritualHistory for April

• April 1, 1858: The Parisian Society for Spiritist Studies, the first official Spiritist society in the world, is founded by Allan Kardec in Paris. Its first location was at the Valois gallery at the centrally located Palais Royale.
• April 2, 1869: The body of Allan Kardec, Codifier of Spiritism, is buried at the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Gabriel Delanne and Camille Flammarion, among others, speak.
• April 2, 1910: The medium Francisco Cândido Xavier, who psychographed over 400 books during his lifetime, is born in Minas Gerais, Brazil. For a list of his books in English, please visit spiritistbooks.org/fcx.
• April 4, 1919: Famous scientist and psychic researcher Sir William Crookes discarnates. He started as a skeptic but became a prominent advocate for the scientific investigation of spiritual and psychic phenomena.
• April 5, 1935: Ernest W. Oaten, British Spiritualist and a former president of the International Federation of Spiritualists, discarnates in Mumbles, UK. He was a companion of Conan Doyle and played a significant role in the Spiritualist movement during the early 20th century.
• April 10, 1885: Louis Alphonse Cahagnet, French magnetizer and pioneer of spirit-communication investigations, discarnates. He helped scientifically frame and shape the young spiritualist movement through works like The Celestial Telegraph.
• April 11, 1900: Adolfo Bezerra de Menezes Cavalcanti discarnates. A beloved figure known as the Doctor of the Poor, he was president of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation on two occasions, and continues to work tirelessly in the Spirit world.
• April 15, 1864: Allan Kardec publishes The Imitation of the Gospel in Paris, which becomes The Gospel According to Spiritism in its improved 2nd edition in 1865.
• April 15, 1865: Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the USA, discarnates in Washington, D.C. He held mediumship sessions at the White House, and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln was deeply involved in spiritualism, especially after the death of their son Willie.
• April 15, 1908: Rufina Noeggerath, Belgian Spiritist philosopher and author, discarnates in Paris, France. Her book summarizes 25 years of experiences and observations on mediumship and boasts an introduction by Camille Flammarion.
• April 16, 1944: Alexis Carrel, thinker and researcher of mediumistic phenomena, discarnates in Paris, France. Born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, France, on August 20, 1873.
• April 17, 1695: Sister Juana Inés de la Cruz — Mexican poet, scholar, and nun — discarnates in Mexico City while nursing her fellow sisters during an epidemic. She is the previous incarnation of Joanna de Ângelis, the spirit author known for her psychological insights.
• April 18, 1857: Allan Kardec publishes The Spirits' Book in Paris, which now marks the official launch of Spiritism — a movement that has changed millions of lives since its inception.
• April 22, 1904: British physical-effects medium Florence Cook discarnates in London. Cook was known for the materialization of the spirit "Katie King," studied and endorsed by scientist William Crookes.
• April 29, 1380: St. Catherine of Siena, the Dominican mystic, discarnates in Rome, Italy. Born in Siena, Italy, on March 25, 1347.
• April 29, 1909: Spanish medium and author Amália Domingo Soler discarnates in Barcelona, Spain. She is remembered for her book Memories of Father Germano and also founded and edited a Spiritist weekly, La Luz del Porvenir.
• April 30, 1854: Psychical researcher and Italy's director general of Public Health Dr. Rocco Santoliquido is born in Florence. Santoliquido became the first president of the Institut Métapsychique International, founded in 1919 in Paris by Jean Meyer.
• April 30, 1856: Allan Kardec receives the first spirit message that outlines the role he was to play in the creation of a new body of knowledge — Spiritism.
