This is the website of The Spiritist Institute, a volunteer-run US-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. This policy explains what information we collect when you use spiritistinstitute.org, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as we can.

What we collect

When you just read the site. Like most websites, we keep basic technical information: your browser type, the pages you visit, and your IP address. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies in your browser. You can learn how Google uses this information. We do not use this information to identify you.

When you subscribe to The Spiritist Radar. We collect your email address, and your name and country if you give them, to send you our monthly newsletter. We can see whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked, which helps us learn what readers find useful. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.

When you donate. Donations go through a secure payment service. You enter your payment details on that service’s page, not on our site, and we never see or store your full card number. The service tells us your name, email address and the amount you gave, and your postal address if you give it, so we can thank you and keep the records a nonprofit must keep.

When you contact us. We collect your name, email address and message so we can read it and reply.

When you listen or watch. Our podcast pages link to podcast and video platforms. If you listen or watch there, that platform’s own privacy policy applies.

How we use it

We use your information only to run the site and our work: to send the newsletter you asked for, to process and acknowledge your donations, to reply to your messages, and to keep the site secure. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not show advertising.

Services that help us run the site

We use a small number of trusted service providers to host the site, send email, show sign-up forms, process donations and block spam. They process information only on our behalf, to provide those services. Some of them may process information outside your country, including in the United States.

Cookies

We use cookies to protect forms against spam, to remember whether you have already seen a sign-up form, and to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some features may not work.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter subscription until you unsubscribe. We keep donation records for as long as the law requires. We keep messages for as long as we need them to answer you.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. To do so, write to us through our contact page. We will reply within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will also tell newsletter subscribers by email.
